My interest in photography started when I was a child traveling with my parents. They also brought me along with them to many museums and galleries. My father always had a camera with him and I always asked him for the camera to take photos myself. My dad's passion for art and photography ultimately became my passion.
I started shooting more when I got my first camera in 1977; a 35mm Nikkormat. I began photographing for the school newspaper and yearbook documenting student life. I created my own darkroom in the basement of my parents house to develop and print my own work.
In college my passion for photography grew with my first formal photography course. My love for fine art photography came about when I was shown photographs by Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and Elliot Porter. Their imagery and what they could achieve in the tonal range and clarity of a photograph influenced me to create images on a similar level. I then purchased my first 4x5 view camera.
I received my Associate in Fine Arts from CCRI. I continued my education at the University of Massachusetts at North Dartmouth, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in photography and design.
I founded and operate a full service commercial photography studio located in Warwick, Rhode Island in 1992specializing in advertising and editorial photography and graphic design services. I work with numerous advertising agencies, graphic designers and corporations throughout the New England area.
